Privacy Policy
You do not need an account to use VERA. The website sets no cookies and loads no advertising code. Analytics runs only if you accept it, on a server we host ourselves. We never sell or share personal data for advertising.
1. Who we are
Vera Protocol ("we") operates the website verachain.cloud and the public services of the VERA SmartChain testnet: the RPC endpoint, the explorer, the faucet, the documentation and the VERA Player. Questions about this policy: contact@verachain.cloud.
2. What we process
- Requests to our servers: when you load a page or call the RPC, our servers receive your IP address, the requested address and basic browser details. We use them only to deliver the service, keep it secure and enforce rate limits.
- Faucet requests: the wallet address you enter, used to send test VERA and to apply the daily limit.
- Analytics, only if you accept it: pages visited, referring site, browser, device, screen size, language, country (derived from your IP address), behaviour signals such as clicks that do nothing, and session recordings of how the page was used. Everything typed into form fields is masked in the browser, and with our current settings so is the text shown on the page. We use this to find what is confusing or broken on the site. Details in the Cookie Policy.
- Email: if you write to us, we keep your message and address to answer you.
- Validator applications: these are submitted as GitHub issues and are public under GitHub's terms.
3. What we do not collect
- No names, phone numbers or ID documents are needed to use the website, the testnet or the node software.
- No private keys or recovery phrases: wallets are self-custodial and we will never ask for them.
- No advertising pixels or third-party trackers, and no analytics unless you accept it.
4. Your browser
The website keeps a few essential settings in your browser's local storage (language, the wallet you connected, an open VERA Player session, your analytics choice). They stay on your device. If you accept analytics, one more entry is kept for the current tab. The full list and how to clear it are in the Cookie Policy.
5. Public blockchain data
Transactions sent to VERA SmartChain, including addresses, amounts and any data attached to them, are public and permanent on the blockchain and cannot be deleted by us or anyone else. Do not include personal or confidential information in transactions.
6. Node software
The VERA node sends no telemetry to us. Like any peer-to-peer software, it connects to other nodes, which can see your IP address. vera_cli and vera-join contact GitHub to check for and download new releases, and vera_cli uses the public RPC unless you point it at your own node.
7. Third parties
- Google Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google, which receives your IP address.
- GitHub and X: releases, source code and announcements are hosted there under their own privacy policies.
- Wallet extensions: wallets such as MetaMask follow their own privacy policies.
8. Security
Our sites are served only over HTTPS, the node software is open source, and releases are signed with our GPG key. Please report vulnerabilities privately to security@verachain.cloud.
9. Your choices
You can accept or decline analytics, change your choice, or clear the data the website keeps in your browser at any time from the privacy settings. To have analytics data about your visits deleted, or to ask about any other data we may hold about you, write to contact@verachain.cloud.
10. Changes
We will update this page when our practices change. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. See also the Terms of Use.
